Please read these terms carefully. By using Parlé, you agree to be bound by this agreement.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and AppMint Studio inc. ("AppMint Studio", "we", "our", or "us"), a corporation incorporated in Canada, governing your use of the Parlé mobile application and our marketing website (collectively, the "Services").
By downloading, installing, or using Parlé, or by clicking "I Agree" or similar, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, including our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.
You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use Parlé. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
The Services are available worldwide where permitted by law. We reserve the right to restrict access in certain jurisdictions at our discretion.
To access most features of Parlé, you must create an account. You agree to:
One account per person. You may not create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or subscription requirements.
Parlé offers a single subscription plan — Parlé Plus — at $9.99 CAD per month. This subscription is billed monthly and provides access to all features including all levels (A1–C2), skill builders, DELF/DALF/TCF/TEF mock exams, monthly AI evaluation credits, and the leaderboard.
Subscriptions are managed and billed entirely through Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit). Your payment information is held by Apple, not AppMint Studio. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's payment terms. Pricing may vary by region based on Apple's local pricing.
Your subscription automatically renews each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Apple charges your payment method on file at renewal.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to Parlé Plus until that date. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.
All refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We do not process refunds directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. You will be notified of any price changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days in advance. Continued use of the Services after the new pricing takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new price.
You may use Parlé solely for your personal, non-commercial French language learning. You agree not to:
Violation of these rules may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
When you submit content to Parlé — including audio recordings for speaking practice, written responses, or vocabulary notes — you retain ownership of that content.
By submitting content, you grant AppMint Studio a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, and store that content solely for the purpose of providing the Services to you (e.g., running AI evaluation, displaying your vocabulary list). We do not use your personal recordings or writing to train AI models without your explicit consent.
You represent that any content you submit does not infringe any third-party rights and complies with applicable law.
Parlé includes optional AI-powered evaluation of speaking and writing responses. Regarding this feature:
All content, features, and functionality of the Services — including but not limited to lessons, lesson text, audio, app design, graphics, logos, the Parlé wordmark, and the DELF/DALF/TCF/TEF mock exam structures created by us — are owned by or licensed to AppMint Studio and are protected by Canadian and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
Parlé™ is a trademark of AppMint Studio inc. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written consent.
DELF, DALF, TCF, and TEF are registered trademarks of their respective owners. Parlé is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected with any official French examination body. Our mock exams are created by AppMint Studio for practice purposes only.
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
We do not warrant that:
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so some of the above may not apply to you.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, APPMINT STUDIO AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA OR GOODWILL.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $50 CAD.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AppMint Studio and its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to your violation of these Terms or your use of the Services.
By you: You may stop using the Services at any time and cancel your subscription through the App Store.
By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately and without notice if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ceases immediately.
Sections 7 (AI Evaluation liability), 8 (Intellectual Property), 9 (Disclaimers), 10 (Limitation of Liability), 11 (Indemnification), and 13 (Governing Law) survive termination.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection laws, those protections apply to you in addition to these Terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms in the App or sending you an email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised.
Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Services and cancel your subscription.
